If Chewing Noises Are Annoying You...Read This

Hey Reader,

This week, I noticed my body felt irritated by everything.

Sounds.
Talking.
Munching.

Even the smallest noise felt like too much.

At first, I brushed it off. Then I zoomed out.

It wasn’t “just” the holidays.

Since October, my nervous system hasn’t really stopped:

  • My son’s first birthday (Disney instead of a party = stimulation overload)
  • Halloween
  • Hayrides
  • Thanksgiving prep
  • My daughter’s birthday
  • Christmas shopping
  • New Year’s events
  • Family parties on repeat

That’s a lot. And my body knew it before my brain wanted to admit it.

The truth?
I hadn’t done somatic yoga in over a month.

No grounding.
No discharge.
Just powering through.

That wasn’t resilience. That was disconnection.

So I stopped pretending I could think my way out of a body problem. I went back to what actually regulates me. My body needed it urgently.

Here’s the part I want to challenge you with 👇
If your mom body feels overstimulated, edgy, or snappy…
What are you not doing anymore that used to support you?

Not what you should add.
What you quietly dropped.

Your body is already giving you data.
The question is whether you’re listening or pushing past it again.

So tell me:
What do you do when your mom body is overstimulated?

Mom Prayer Reflection

Hey Reader This is a season of prayer and reflection in our home. Why? We are an interfaith household, so this year we are observing both Ramadan and Lent at the same time. Yes....both. That means fasting, prayer, and being intentional about how I want to show up as a mother and partner. You might be reading this with strong opinions about religion, spirituality, or the state of the world. I notice there are many opinions right now. But opinions are not as powerful as behavior. What shapes a...

Mom Reset

Hey Reader, This past week my body felt so weak. Not sick exactly. Just… depleted. The kids’ noise machine stopped working. The camera went out.The little pieces of technology I quietly depend on? Gone. And it rattled me more than I expected. Because it made me ask a harder question: If the tools break… what am I actually relying on? When the systems fail the apps, the routines, the hacks what steadies you? For me, it’s Sunday. Church Prayer. Meditation. Somatic work. Fasting. Not because it’s...

Mom Hurting Advice

Hey Reader, Have you ever noticed how everyone has advice for moms? “Try this.”“Do that.”“Just show up.” It all sounds supportive. Most of it is oversimplified. And oversimplified advice quietly makes moms feel like they’re failing. It makes us sound the same.Same struggles. Same time. Same capacity. We’re not. Yes, there’s shared fatigue. The mental load. The invisible labor. But one mom is dodging toddler head butts.Another is dealing with school bullying.Another is sitting outside their...
